1971 – A man using the pseudonym of Dan Cooper hijacked a Boeing 727 flying between Seattle and Portland. He ransomed the Passengers for $200,000 in cash and then ordered the plane to fly to Mexico. Using the planes unique rear stairs, he parachuted out somewhere over the Lewis River in Washington and was never seen again. This sparked one of the regions greatest man hunts, and today remains one of the regions greatest mysteries.
