  • What exactly IS left of this town? I’m currently trying to find out what happened to the engines that ran a railroad that connected Pine Ridge to Kirk that was owned by Forest Lumber Company of Kansas City (formally Modoc Lumber Co.), I know a Shay still exists and that a 4-6-0 tender engine was scrapped shortly before WWII, but what of the fate of the earlier two Heisler locomotives, particually #1 (s/n 1018, which formally ran on the Borate & Daggett Railroad). If anyone has any information regarding to the whereabouts of this engine, I would be most grateful.

    • As far as I can tell, “Not much.” It seems to be about the same as nearby Kirk. From what I can tell in Google Earth it looks like if there was any town, it’s been either absorbed by Chiloquin. Or it’s been torn down and replaced with some huge houses. I plan on driving through next time I’m down in that area and will have pictures then.

  • There was a fire in 1932 that pretty much wiped out the tiny town. Part of the mill survived and was abandoned, but it was demolished sometime in the previous decade. The only building that remains is the old school house, but I say that hesitantly because it has been remodeled into a home.
