Bridge Creek Falls, Tillamook County, Oregon
There is absolutely no information about Bridge Creek Falls on the Internet, other then it’s location. Some site report that it’s hard to find, others report that it’s easy to find. Some also confuse it with nearby Fern Creek Falls, which is hard to find.
For me though, it is easy to find. On OR-6 or the “Wilson River Highway” between Tillamook and Portland, look for the Mile Marker 21 or 20. It’s closer to 21. But an much easier way is to watch for the Footbridge Trailhead Signs on the road. This is a very wide spot in the road with ample parking on both sides of the highway.
The trail to the Falls is located almost directly across the highway from the actual trailhead. A very small sign says “Falls” next to the road and points up an attractive, yet frequently overgrown, rock stairway.
Here are the stairs going up into the woods.
And here is part way up the stairs looking back at the highway.
About halfway up the stair way.
The bottom of the falls goes into this interesting little containment area, making me believe the creek was routed here on purpose. This bowl looks to have been carved into the rock.
And then this retaining wall keeps the debris from flowing down the river and onto the highway.
Overall, Bridge Creek Falls is an interesting hidden spot just off the highway. The trail up is short and easy to hike no matter who takes it. And it’s rarely busy at all.
