My grandma was a cook at a logging camp up there. I have no idea as to the location of the town bu t from what I remember my dad saying it seems like there is not roads to it any longer. I do have photos somewhere of areas near the town but none that I know of showing the town itself. I know that I also have some saved letters with address of Valsetz. If I remember correctly my grandma’s 2nd husband was killed in logging accident while working there.
I have not tried to go out there yet. Maps show there are roads, but that has been privately owned land by one lumber company or another for decades so I would not be surprised to find it is closed now.
My uncle George sturgeon lived in valzets, ore.He was known as Couger Jim.I remembered visiting him as a kid. He had a cabin about half mile drive way into the woods, he didn’t have electricity at the time witch was the 1970s. Film makers wanted to do a movie about his life there in valzets but he refused.He died of throat cancer, not sure the year.
