On the west side of the highway, and on corner of there and Southwest Norris Lane stood the Opal City schoolhouse. It stood neglected for many many years until sometime between 1956 and 1982 vandals burnt it to the ground. Supposedly, the remains of the local community were planning to fix it up for a community hall. The foundation is still there today.
I am very, very vested in Oregon’s pioneer history and when available, I’d love to talk about such.
