State Meat Market Delivery Truck
State Meat Market Delivery Truck
Found this photo of delivery truck from around the early 1900s. The back of the photo says “Early model chain drive delivery truck, solid tired, wooden rear wheels.” It looks like the driver may be RJ or Lyle Buell. There appears to have been an Roy Buell in Portland about then, with a son named Lyle. But I am not able to find much information about State Meat Market, and if it really was in Portland at 221 First Street.
“Butcher Fined. – A fine of $10 was imposed upon Charles Rudeen, proprietor of the State meat market at First and Salmon streets, this morning in municipal court. He was accused of conveying meat through the city streets without having it covered. Mrs. Sarah A. Evans, market inspector, made the charge.” –The Oregon Daily Journal, June 8, 1910
