I am trying to find anything I can that says Wetmore on it. Be it in a cemetery, a road side sign, a business. I appreciate any information you might have. Thank you
I go camping semi-regularly in the Umatilla NF a few miles from Wineland Lake, and I usually drive down to look at the lake, and Wetmore, at least once per year. I’m pretty sure the main forest road out to Wineland Lake (NF-21) has a sign that references Wetmore on it. There is not much left at Wetmore itself, except a good amount of rusted metal, old cans and bottles, and at least a couple concrete slabs where I assume buildings once stood. Not much to hint at the town that once stood there, but better than nothing…
I lived in camp 5 in 1954-55 and was there when kinzua was working on the school

Have you found anything yet Debbie?
Not yet. I’m not sure if there is anything there.

Nothing remains. The lake area is private property.
