Don’t know much about it, but did see the “Fleetwood” sign once while hiking, probably in the 1980s or early 90s. It was between Fort Rock and Christmas Valley. Nothing there but the sign as far as we can remember
Fleetwood was one of about a dozen little towns that sprang up in the fort rock basin during the homestead years of the early 1900s. Once had a post office, school, creamery, newspaper and a few little businesses serving the homesteaders in the surrounding desert between fort rock town and christmas lake valley (which itself wasn’t a town at the time) ….. town abandoned in the 1920s when most of the homesteaders bailed out ….. eventually bulldozed to oblivion …. today high tension power lines from the Columbia dams track right over the site
