Laurelhurst Park Duck Pond

Laurelhurst Park Duck Pond

Laurelhurst Park was acquired in 1909 by the City of Portland. In 1919, it was named “most beautiful park,” on the West Coast, and since then has been a pride to the Laurelhurst Neighborhood. So much so that in 2001, it was the very first park to be named to the National Register of Historic Places.

This picture was taken on the same day as this one, but a couple of hours later.

Horning’s Hideout Fish Pond

Horning’s Hideout is a privately owned park outside of Hillsboro/North Plains Oregon. It’s used for weddings, corporate picnics, concerts, camping, fishing, just about anything you can imagine. It’s also fairly secluded being officially “in the woods”. Not that that is hard around this area.

This pond is stocked with Rainbow Trout, hence the fishing. I believe that since it’s private property no fishing license is needed. The bridge is a wooden home made affair that is actually pretty sturdy and is part of the trail around the pond. It’s a pretty cool little area.

Good thing my skills have improved since this was taken. One of these days I’ll go back and photograph this bridge again and really see by how much.
