Galena Farm
Outside of the old gold mining camp of Galena, is this small farm. Situated as it is along the John Day River, in the Late Spring, Summer, Early Fall period it’s one of the most beautiful spots in Oregon. Of course like much of Eastern Oregon, the Winter isn’t quite as fun.
Of course, a farm miles away from even the smallest town, probably doesn’t make a lot of sense economically these days, which is why it’s been abandoned.
Interestingly, this route is now part of Oregon Parks and Recreation Department’s Old West Scenic Bikeway.
In the short time it’s been open, it’s become quite a popular route for bikes. Several blogs and websites tell of trip reports through here.
